OT3s Company

I don't know how long this post will be. The last one just kinda kept going (for me). I'm looking over at the two bookshelves full of TV DVDs and decided that I'm going to make a list of my favourite OT3s from the shows we have - and the shows we watch, but those are in tiny little files (IN THE COMPUTER) so I may forget a few those. I may also forget some shows because I can't see the DVD case at this angle.

OK, we'll start with Community, because that's the show that made me think to do this post.

Community: Troy/Abed/Annie - This was a tricky one, because originally I really liked Jeff/Britta and Troy/Annie. And then the whole Jeff/Annie thing happened and I was torn. And OF COURSE I had to love Troy/Abed because I think to not love it you have to be part kickpunching cyborg. Then all of a sudden there was all this Annie/Britta subtext and I got very confused. Now I realise I want Troy/Abed/Annie and have the three of them off having adventures (and sex). Annie tops a lot and occasionally invites Britta.

Further down the shelf is Glee: This is a trio that the Girl originally picked, and it only occurs during certain songs. Finn/Quinn/Rachel - it makes no sense in canon, but so much more sense in fanon. Finn's clueless and the whole which girl will he choose is easily solved by having both (yeah baby). Finn, you're no Archie. You just can't pull off the battling blonde/brunette. This trio also would mean more Quinn screen time, and I like Quinn.

Next to Glee is Greek: if you've seen this show, you should know what I'm going to say - Evan/Cappie/Casey. This is another "which boy will she choose?" scenario, but what I especially like is that the two guys have their own friendship/relationship that occasionally makes their relationship with Casey secondary. They're the epic Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot triangle. There's always one of them on the outside, and since they were once all so close, it just makes sense that they stop seeing themselves as a couple plus friend and just become a trio.

If I was going alphabetically, you'd all be screaming that I missed Doctor Who: This is a no brainer - Amy/Rory/Doctor. Amy has chemistry with both the boys (and herself, which is so damn hot), the Doctor is kind of mutable when it comes to sexuality (or so I think), and would no doubt like it if he tried and Rory. I think I over-identify with Rory, which doesn't make sense a lot of the time. Rory's fantastic. Rory calls the Doctor on some of his shit ("The sonic screwdriver doesn't work on wood? That's rubbish."). You could say there's underlying jealousy towards the Doctor from Rory about Amy, but I'd say it's more envy. There's a difference, honest. Rory wants to be the Doctor (don't we all?). Amy certainly does as well, but the Ponds will settle for being his best buddies - and occasional sex partners.

I can't believe I got this far without mentioning Legend of the Seeker: Cara/Richard/Kahlan FTW! Oh Cara, with your tiny little feeling! I love this because it started as a 'V' with Richard in the middle, and then slowly moved more towards a proper triangle as Cara and Kahlan got more screen time together and built an ACTUAL RELATIONSHIP! So weird. This just feels right, like the three characters fit into each other like a puzzle. Each one complements the others.

Parks and Rec actually has two, but only because a character left: Anne/Leslie/Mark or Anne/Leslie/Ben. Anne/Leslie is just there because, you know, IT'S THERE, and whenever we saw the two of them with Mark it felt like this little including circle of people having fun. Then Mark went and left and along comes Ben. This feels much more like a 'V', with Leslie at the centre. She loves Anne (she's so pretty so she's not used to rejection) and likes Ben a lot. She intends to have her cake and eat it too, because she's Leslie Knope. She'll also have a side order of pancakes.

Lastly, because I'm getting tired, is Psych: Gus/Shawn/Juliet. Gus and Shawn are life partners, whether that be sexual or not. Shawn REALLY likes Juliet, and while Gus is hesitant, he respects his friend's choices. We haven't watched Psych in a while, so I'm not sure what they've been doing with it, but much like Troy/Abed/Annie, I just want the three of them to have adventures and fight crime! Or all share an apartment that Gus bought with his modelling money (his features are immaculate). Shenanigans!

That's it. That's all I have at the moment. If I remember any more, I'll post them.

How I Met Your Mother: Robin/Lily/Marshall! This kind of brings all the others together. I want shenanigans from Psych, the UST from Parks and Rec is already in the show, and there's Robin learning to be in a relationship with the most adorable couple teaching her. It's a bit more of a 'V' because Lily is very much the centre. I was very disappointed in 'The Perfect Cocktail' when Robin kept shooting down Lily's advances. Come on Robin, you were happy to make out with her in season one! Oh well.

OK, this time I'm really done.
